Company of Killers: Gunman (Saxon) performing for Kill Inc. gets to be target for his bosses and the city cops after a key witness is shot down. Bites off more than it can handle. Cast includes Van Johnson, Ray Milland, John Saxon, Brian Kelly, Fritz Weaver, Clu Gulager, Susan Oliver, Diana Lynn, and Robert Middleton. (88 minutes, 1970)
Donnie Brasco: The absolutely unbelievable true story of Joe Pistone, the first cop to fully infiltrate the mafia in the US. He assumes the name Donnie Brasco, a jewel man. He is shut off from his family for years, must participate in criminal acts, and every time he meets with the bosses feels he could have been figured out, and is going to be killed.
Frontier Hellcat: Another Karl Winnetou tale, which seizes flavor of the Old West in venture of pioneers passing through Rockies. Cast includes Stewart Granger, Elke Sohuner, Pierre Brice, and Gotz George. (98 minutes, 1966)
House Party Three: Baby, among jitters over his approaching marriage, is trying to make it in music management by signing a feisty girl rap group and avoiding a malevolent journey publicist. The movie provides scattered laughs but abrasive, impure, and misogynistic, different from the primordial. Cast includes Christopher Reid, Christopher Martin, David Edwards, Angela Means, Tisha Campbell, Bernie Mac, and Kelly Lester. (94 minutes, 1994)
The Cure: Flawed although often moving tale in reference to two pre-adolescent aliens who become quick fixes: new-baby-in-town Renfro and Assists-afflicted Mazzello, who contracted the HIV virus throughout a blood transfusion. At its best while concentrating on the boys’ growing relation; the title refers to a marvel Assists remedy which plays a key role in the tale. Cast includes Joseph Mazzello, Brad Renfro, Annabelle Sciorra, Diana Scarwid, Bruce Davison, Nicky Katt, Erik Egan, and Renee Humphrey. (99 minutes, 1995)
