City life is known to be more stressful. People living in cities are more addicted as compared to their rural counterparts. Rural people or residents of less developed areas live a more stress free lifestyle, so there is no urge for them to seek extra excitement. They are more savings-oriented and prefer to keep risks to the minimum. This keeps them away from gambling or any such activity. Some religions are more liberal compared to others who prohibit their followers to indulge in gambling. Men are traditionally more prone to gambling than women and this has been proven scientifically. Lawmakers have been defending these games stating that most of profits go as charity to hospitals and NGOs, which is again not true.
Cards, slots, and dice games are known to be sensational games that draw a person to them. Once addicted, a person finds it difficult to pull away. Certain people insist that the desire to gamble is inborn in human beings irrespective of the factors like caste or creed, age or marital status.
